Our Story: From Arabic Virtual School to Manarat Al Hayat
When I first arrived in Japan in 2010, everything felt unfamiliar—neither the culture nor the society resembled anything from my homeland, Syria. The transition was deeply challenging, especially coming from a rich Arab cultural background. As my children grew, so did my concern about the influence of foreign cultures on their identity. I often met Arab children in Japan who had lost touch with their native language, blending Arabic with Japanese or other languages to express themselves. This raised a deeper fear—not just for my own children, but for the broader Arab community abroad—of losing linguistic and cultural roots. That realization sparked a personal revolution. I felt a profound responsibility to protect my children’s identity and support other families facing similar challenges. Drawing on my background in computer science, education, psychology, and Islamic studies, I founded the Arabic Virtual School Japan in 2014. It became a space where children could preserve their language and values while engaging with the richness of other cultures—embracing what aligned with their beliefs and respectfully navigating what did not. As the school grew, so did our vision. We recognized that the challenges families face abroad—especially those living as minorities—extend beyond education. Social integration, emotional well-being, and cultural continuity became central concerns. In 2015, we launched Manarat Al Hayat, expanding our mission to include family counseling and teacher training. Today, our team of global experts in education, family dynamics, and mental health supports families from all backgrounds living abroad. Through Arabic Virtual School and Manarat, we offer customized educational programs, compassionate consultation, and practical tools to help families thrive—academically, emotionally, and spiritually. For those seeking faith-based enrichment, we continue to provide specialized services rooted in Islamic and Arabic values. Together, Arabic Virtual School and Manarat Al Hayat stand as pillars of support for families navigating life abroad. We invite you to join us on this inspiring journey toward a brighter, more connected future for our children and communities.
